Gender equality is where all people – girls, boys, women and men – have equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities, regardless of gender norms, identities or expressions. A world where everyone is equally recognized, respected and valued.

March is Womens History Month, with International Womens day celebrated annually on 8 March. But don't wait till then, get started now and look at some of our resources celebrating women and gender equality.

Books about women, by women

  • Kate Pankhurst is a childrens author, and a relative of Emmeline Pankhurst, famous Suffragette leader. She has written a series of 'Fantastically Great Women' books with illustrations about inspirational women.
  • Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is a book for girls about one hundred incredible women, famous or not who have done incredible things. Empowering, moving and inspirational true fairy tales for heroines who don't need rescuing!
