Children and young people with vision impairment should benefit from consistent education provision across the UK. The CFVI resource hub has been developed to encourage the sharing of resources amongst professionals. Resources are linked to outcomes, or interventions within 11 specialist teaching areas of the CFVI which define elements of specialist skill development and best practice.

What is the CFVI Resource Hub?

The CFVI Resource Hub is a free online hub containing resources developed by individual organisations, VI services, schools and individuals working with children and young people with a VI across the UK.

  • The Curriculum Framework for Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (CFVI) is the overarching framework to which the hub adheres and it has been developed to guide the work of specialist practitioners in the UK to ensure that all learners with vision impairment have access to equitable and inclusive education.
  • This Resource Hub has been created by the sector, for the sector. It is a space for knowledge and resource sharing across all professionals involved in the education of children and young people with a VI aged 0-25 in relation to the teaching of the specialist skills they may require.
  • The Resource Hub is organised into the areas of the CFVI and details both external and downloadable resources that may support the delivery of the core outcome areas identified within the CFVI.

Visit RNIB - Curriculum Framework for Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (CFVI) for further information and to download the framework.

How can I access resources?

The Resource Hub contains both links to resources that are downloadable from the RNIB Bookshare Resource Hub directly, as well as external resources that are signposted to from the relevant CFVI area.

All resources are freely available, however, to download a resource you will need to sign in with your RNIB Bookshare log in details, join RNIB Bookshare.

What format are the resources in?

Resources are available to upload and download in most formats.

This hub contains documents from colleagues across the education sector and we have made every attempt to make them as accessible as possible. If you require an alternative format please email cypf@rnib.org.uk, marking the subject box - CFVI resource(s).

I would like to contribute - how can I upload resources?

There are lots of accessible resources being created by individuals throughout the UK and through this hub, we can help you to share the resources that you, your organisation or service create. This means that everyone can benefit from access to a greater pool of resources.

How can I feedback?

Your feedback is really important to us.

All resources submitted to the hub have undergone a quality review/evaluation process including peer review by practitioners within the sector and accessibility checks before being uploaded to the hub. However, if you notice any quality issues with a particular resource, please let us know by emailing: cypf@rnib.org.uk and marking the subject box - CFVI resource(s).

Use of resources in practice

When using resources signposted via or downloaded from RNIB Bookshare, consideration should be given to any health and safety risks that might be involved and it is the responsibility of the user of these resources to undertake an appropriate risk assessment where applicable. RNIB assumes no responsibility or liability to the extent permitted by law for any injury, loss or damage incurred as a result of any use or reliance upon the information and material contained within or downloaded from RNIB Bookshare.
