James
Senior Manager Reading Services
Focused on making books equally accessible to everyone.
James started at RNIB in 1990 as a maths braillist and spent 10 years in a variety of roles across the braille transcription department; James’s role evolved to include working with key partner organisations across the UK and internationally to promote and distribute RNIB’s products and publications. In the past 5 years James has been progressively responsible for RNIB Newsagent, RNIB Library and now RNIB Bookshare which all come under the umbrella title of RNIB Reading Services. James has been delighted to work with the wider Reading Services team on introducing new services such as the Alexa Talking Book skill for our leisure books, a new more versatile online library platform and transforming the braille library including the introduction of ebraille. In his spare time, James likes to womble (litter picking) when he can, and aspires to get back to some serious long distance walking in the Lake District.
Rochelle
RNIB Bookshare Team Leader
Rochelle is dedicated to the individual needs of students and educators alike, and she is passionate that everybody has the same learning experience through accessible textbooks and technology in today’s ever-changing world.
Rochelle joined RNIB in 2019 and recently became part of RNIB Bookshare in September 2021. Before joining RNIB she was working with educational institutions specialising in SEN support in the Middle East, as well as creating and leading Early Intervention Programs for rehabilitation hospitals for children with complex special needs. As Team Leader, Rochelle looks after the daily needs of her RNIB Bookshare team, she works with publishers to contribute to Bookshare’s growing collection of educational materials and educational institutions to increase student access to accessible textbooks. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, working in her garden, and long-distance walking or rambling.
Caroline
Reader Services Assistant, RNIB Bookshare
Loves RNIB Bookshare and is passionate about the difference it can make to learners.
Caroline joined RNIB's Centre for Accessible Images in 2009 to work on the ImageShare project which merged with the Load2Learn development in 2010, finally becoming RNIB Bookshare in 2016.
With a strong customer focus Caroline is always happy to talk to customers and likes sharing with others how to get the best out of RNIB Bookshare for the benefit of learners with a print disability.
Caroline is our accessible image guru and is always happy to talk to you about designing your own images and how learners can get the most out of the different image formats.
Taylor
Reading Services Assistant, RNIB Bookshare
Is keen to support RNIB Bookshare’s work in creating an inclusive educational environment for learners.
Taylor joined RNIB Bookshare in September 2021. Before joining RNIB, she volunteered for the disability arts organisation Together! 2012 and the charity Scope.
As Taylor has been visually impaired since childhood, she has experience of navigating education with a visual impairment through from primary school to higher education and recognises the importance of how accessible learning materials can greatly improve a learner’s educational experience.
