Adding, removing and updating Teacher (staff) accounts

As an education organisation you are responsible for ensuring that the staff and learners who hold membership on your organisations RNIB Bookshare account are kept up to date.

You are only able to create Teacher accounts to add staff to if you are the registered Primary Contact. We use the word Teacher but this could mean a range of support staff.

Teachers must be staff, faculty, or professionals working with your organisation. Teachers cannot be parents (unless employed by your organisation) or volunteers.

Adding Teachers (staff) to an organisation account:

  1. Go to My Homepage
  2. Find the Teachers link in the right hand navigation list 
  3. Select the Add new teacher
  4. Complete the following fields: 
    1. First Name
    2. Last Name
    3. Job Title (ie job role in school)
    4. Phone number
  5. Set log in details: 
    1. Email (school/organisation email address and not a generic email such as 'info@')
    2. Password
  6. Select save button
  7. Give your staff member their log in details, they will be emailed at the email address and can reset their password. 

Updating Teacher (staff) in an organisation account:

  1. Go to My Homepage
  2. Find the Teachers link in the right hand navigation list 
  3. Under Actions select Edit Teacher of the user you need to amend 
  4. The Edit teacher screen will allow you to change any details and reset the password for the member of staff.
  5. Select save button

Updating primary Contact

You may only have one Primary contact in your organisation but you can update it, if the current primary contact needs to be changed. 

  1. Only a primary contact can update the primary contact so you must be logged in to the primary contact account. 
  2. Go to My Homepage
  3. Find the Teachers link in the right hand navigation list 
  4. Under Actions select Edit Teacher of the user you need to amend
  5. Scroll yo Update primary contact
  6. Select Yes, please update my orgnisations primary contact 

Removing Teachers (staff) to an organisation account:

  1. Go to My Homepage
  2. Find the Teachers link in the right hand navigation list 
  3. Under Actions select Edit Teacher of the user you need to delete
  4. select the delete teacher button at the bottom of the page.
